Philosophy of Care

Childbirth is a normal, physiological process and a life altering event for all women and their families. A vast majority of women do not require medical intervention during their labor and delivery. On the contrary, unnecessary medical interventions can lead to more undesirable outcomes than if the natural process of birth had been respected and supported. In the event that medical intervention is necessary, women should be allowed to feel like their wishes are respected, and that they have a voice in how they and their families are treated.

Birthroot Midwifery strives to provide each woman and family with professional, personalized care. We will work with you to provide the information and support that you need so you and your family can make choices for your and the baby's care that meet your unique needs and preferences. Open, honest communication between client and healthcare provider is the key to ensuring a satisfying birth experience on an emotional as well as physical level.

The goal is that every woman (and family) is an informed consumer of the various childbirth options available, and should be allowed to give birth to their child in the way that makes them feel most comfortable and cared for. For some women, the familiar surroundings of home offer an environment where they feel most safe and can be surrounded by people and things that offer them the support that they need and desire. Birthroot Midwifery is dedicated to preserving home birth as a safe option for families in Northwest Arkansas who choose this intimate alternative for their births.
